Oak processionary caterpillar control

At various locations in the Netherlands and Germany (including Düsseldorf and Mönchengladbach), oak processionary caterpillars are being controlled with special processionary caterpillar vacuum cleaners.

This removes the caterpillars themselves as well as the annoying fire hairs of the caterpillar. This is the best method of  control once the oak processionary caterpillar has taken over an oak tree.

The nests are then best sucked up with a special vacuum cleander and then burned.

The sympoms you get from the oak prcessionary caterpillar can be very unpleasant. If you want to prevent sumptoms, you should avoid contact with nests and fire hairs. What can you do yourself? Look for tips on the website of ggdleefomgeving.
