In the meanwhile we have been working for project mound Montferland for three years, commissioned by ADC Archeoprojecten. The work covers a period of five years, which means we are about half our way.
The mound will be completely cleaned. Thus, we have already cleaned removed the green (like blackberry bushes) and removed the trees on the mound. This was necessary, because they affected the hill.
The entire mound will be covered in grass to prevent erosion. We sow this by hydroseeding, a combination of mulch and grass seed. Hydroseeding is a good way to sow grass on steep slopes, because grass can germinate well and become a full lawn.
In the future mound Montferland will check whether sheep are suitable to graze on the mound.
